Gifts for Gravel Riders and Bikepackers
In short: Gravel riders dream of long rides on gravel tracks and forest trails, often with an overnight stay. Good gifts are therefore bikepacking bags, lightweight camping gear, navigation accessories and anything that takes the sting out of breakdowns on remote trails. Ideas start at around €10, and a wooden wall mount for the gravel bike from €65. Order from us by 14 December = delivery before Christmas.
What do you give a gravel rider?
Gravel riders sit somewhere between road cyclist and adventurer. They like riding long, they like riding off-road, and on multi-day trips they pack everything onto the bike. That points to two gift directions: gear for the road and ideas that spark excitement for the next trip. With bags, check the frame size and whether they already use a system. Someone who already has a saddle bag will be happier with a handlebar roll than with a second saddle bag.

Bikepacking gifts: what to look for
- Weight over volume: Gravel riders count grams. Light weight and a small pack size matter more than lots of pockets.
- Waterproof: A roll-top closure keeps rain out better than a zip.
- Mounting: Bags with Velcro straps are gentler on the paint than straps with metal buckles. A piece of protective film makes a good addition.
- Don't buy twice: Ask their partner or riding buddy which bags are already lying in the basement.
Ideas that spark excitement for the next trip
Not every gift has to go on the bike. Gravel riders like to plan the next season over the winter, and other things are ideal for that:
- A photo book about cycling trips across Europe or a map of long-distance cycle routes.
- A weekend trip you plan yourself, with a train ride out and gravel tracks back.
- A cook set for the gas stove, so the morning coffee outdoors turns out well.
- A head torch for evenings at the tent that doubles as an emergency light.
Practical tip: Anyone riding with luggage for the first time should test the bags on a short loop first. A fully loaded bike steers noticeably more sluggishly than one without luggage.
Gravel bike on the wall: when does a wooden mount fit?
Gravel bikes typically weigh 9–12 kg, have drop handlebars under 60 cm wide and a continuous top tube. That suits our mounts well. One practical detail matters: a top tube or frame bag has to come off before hanging the bike, because the top tube rests on the wood. Ideally, hang the bag on a hook right next to it.
- Henry (€65) and Max (€85): two simple 8-sided stacks in oak.
- Oskar from €89: compact wooden frame in white birch.
- Friedrich from €159: with a shelf for helmet, glasses and GPS.
A mount is less suitable for gravel bikes with an electric motor over 20 kg. More background in the guide Gravel bike wall mount.
Checklist: does a wall mount suit the recipient's bike?
- Continuous top tube, frame bag removable?
- Bike under about 20 kg?
- Free wall about 170–180 cm wide?

Frequently asked questions
What do you give someone who wants to get into bikepacking?
A saddle bag or handlebar roll as basic kit, plus dry bags. That makes the first overnight trip possible without needing a pannier rack.
What is a small gift for gravel riders?
A top tube bag, a quick link for the road, dry bags or a route map of a gravel region.
Does a gravel bike with a frame bag fit on a wall mount?
Only without the bag, because the top tube rests on the mount. Most bags come off in a few seconds thanks to Velcro.
Which bags do you need for bikepacking?
Typically three: a saddle bag for clothing, a handlebar roll for sleeping bag or tent, and a frame or top tube bag for tools and snacks. To start with, a saddle bag and a small top tube bag are often enough.
